Sticker Love

MK when she came home from school.
BabcoUnlimited.blogspot.com - Silly Kids

On Thursday, MK had some spider bites on her arm that caused her arm to swell...pretty badly. I gave her benedryl, but the swelling got worse and started to hurt. So, Friday morning I took her to see the doctor. He prescribed medicine to help clear up the infection, and she's all better.

MK was DEVASTATED about missing Kindergarten that day. She was visibly upset during her doctor visit that I had to explain she wasn't sad about the spider bite but sad about missing school. The nurse gave MK 3 stickers at the end of the visit. She put two on her shirt and one on her arm. The one are her arm fell off eventually. The other two have since been moved from shirt to shirt everyday since, including her pajama shirts. Today, she went to school with two big stickers on the front of her shirt. Then she came home with MORE stickers she got from her kindergarten teacher on her arm.

The mustache returns!

Yes, that is MK. I have no words because I'm laughing too hard.

MK has a mustache!
We went to the dentist this morning. MK used her "good check-up" token to buy a mustache.
The last time the mustache made an appearance, we had a grand ol' silly time.
So far, today is just as fun, silly, and grand. Love the mustache!

Following Directions

Yesterday morning, I told MK to "go downstairs and get dressed."
She came back upstairs wearing this:

Lemons are Sour

So, we have a fruit basket we keep on counter. The kids can help themselves to fruit at anytime.  We had eaten everything we had in the house. No more apples. No more juggling oranges (the kids named the small clementine oranges "juggling oranges" because you can juggle with them.) No bananas. All that was left in the fruit basket was a lime and half an lemon.  MK wanted a snack, so she checked the basket and saw the lemon.
MK: Mom, can I have the lemon.
Me: You don't want the lemon.
MK: Yes I do! I like lemons. They're sweet.
Me: No. Lemons are sour.
MK: No. Lemonade is sweet. And we put lemons on our apples, and it's sweet.
Me: Fine.  *holds out lemon* Here. Lick this.
MK: *licks the lemon and pulls the BEST sour face EVER!*  No, I don't want it.

So we finally went shopping.

MK LOVES shopping, but the boys aren't too keen on it. I told them we'd stop to play at a park after shopping was finished IF they took care of a few chores before we left. They did their chores, we did our shopping, and we stopped to play at a new park next to Costco. They have a splash pad, but we weren't prepared with swimsuits or towels. I told them they could play and get all wet if they didn't mind driving home like that.  MK and S were so excited and wasted no time getting wet. C didn't want to drive home wet, so he played at the playground.

Bobble Head

Today, MK ran around the house in her dance tutu with Uncle Neal's poster head chanting
"I'm a bobble head. I'm a bobble head."

Stay Off the Sidewalks!

Baseball season has started. We spent last night at the ball field for C's first game. After the game, S wanted to head back to the car before the rest of us were ready. I gave him the keys so he could get in. When I finally made it to the van, this is what I found:

The Joy of the Cardboard Box Part II

I recently received a large fragile package, which was packaged in a box wrapped in bubble wrap inside another box. Immediately, S commandeered the boxes and started creating. He made a train. Am I surprised by a train? Not at all. This boy has loved trains since forever. I walked into the living room and found this:

Moustache!

Yesterday, the kids had dentist appointments--No Cavities! Hurray!
We go see an awesome pediatric dental group who give the kids tokens at the end of each check-up they can use to buy small toys. Well, S used his coin to get a fake mustache.

Second Hernia During a Summer Storm

A couple months ago, R had to have hernia surgery--his second one just a short 13 months after the first. I had originally worked it out for the kids to go to our sitter for the day, but the night before the surgery we were informed by the hospital that we had to be at the hospital at 5:30 a.m. Yikes! So, I called my parents and asked if the kids could have a sleepover at grandma and boppi's house. They said yes, so I quickly packed the kids an over night bag and hurried them over...and I do mean quickly. I had them packed and strapped into the car in under 10 minutes. That included potty breaks, too. Sometimes, I amaze myself.

And other times I don't.

It was mid-June. It was summer weather. I packed shorts, t-shirts, sandals, swimsuits, and underwear, of course. What I didn't count on was a summer storm to come. I didn't send with them any socks nor sweaters nor anything like that. But, my parents are of the resourceful kind. We used to watch a lot of "MacGyver" when I was younger. Here are some great pictures my parents emailed me while I was at the hospital with R.

First up is MK in the morning. She is a happy girl with her milk and banana. Look at her feet......those are my dad's socks on her feet and legs. They look like leg warmers, don't they?

MK
Next up are all three kids. C and S seem very happy with their sweaters. C is rocking some socks from Boppi. MK doesn't seem so sure. Can you even see her underneath all that?

C, MK, S
And just because the situation was so funny, Boppi posed with the grandkids. I can hear the laughing. And yeah, MK's expression is pretty funny.

Staying warm
The kids ended up spending 2 nights with my parents. THANK YOU! It was so nice to not to have to worry about them while I tended to R.

As for R, his surgery went very well. He is now a bionic man....okay, not really. But they did a great job in patching him up. He had to spend one night in the hospital. His recovery was shorter than the first surgery. I was looking forward to his loopy state of mind while he came down from the anesthesia, but it didn't happen. He actually remembered things this time! No repeat conversations. No repeat questions. I was looking forward to the funny stories I could tell about him coming out of it, but sorry. I can't. Drat.

Little Pioneer MK

Here are a few funny pictures of MK. Grandma made this little bonnet for her a little while ago and she loves to put it on and walk around. Every time she finds it, she brings it to one of us and makes us put it on. Such a little cutey!

A day in the life of...

A day in the life of C

C started soccer this week. His first game was last night. He now plays with the "big kids" where the games are actually refereed, players play positions, and in general follow the rules of the game.

Here he is with his game face. He was pretending to kick an imaginary ball.

C did pretty well. He got to play a variety of positions, and most liked playing the goalie. He managed to make a few saves despite missing only one that went high over his head.

A day in the life of S

S has been adjusting to having his older brother gone most of the day. I love having lunch with him and chatting with him--he's pretty funny. Today, he had some watermelon as part of his lunch. He seems to really like watermelon. What do you think?

I love this one with watermelon juices running down his chin.

A day in the life of MK

MK has had her nap schedule interupted by C's school schedule. This is her right before I had to wake her so we could go pick up C from school today. Let's hope she'll go to bed early tonight and not be a grump.

Our Funny Kids

I have some random pictures of our random kids.

First up is MK. Earlier this week during bath time, MK finished her bath, and I left her to play in the living room in just a diaper since it was still pretty warm. MK and S were playing in the living room while I went to help C finish up his bath. I left the bottle of lotion on the couch after using it on S thinking that MK couldn't reach it. I was wrong. I came out to the living room to find this.

Lotion everywhere on this little girl! She had managed to pump lotion all over her head. I asked S if he did this, which he denied. I'm not sure what to think because S will almost always tell us the truth even knowing he's going to have a time-out. But she got lotion all over her head! It was quite funny. I couldn't stop laughing. I quickly took this picture then grabbed a towel to clean her up. At least she's moisturizing, right?

Next up is C. C has be asking for goggles forever! I just never got around to getting him any last summer, and now that it's warm again he has been asking for goggles again and again. Two days ago while we were running errands getting ready for our trip to CA, we stopped at Costco. Before I even parked the car, C reminded me that Costco has goggles and won't I please buy him goggles. I did indeed buy him googles, and he wouldn't let go of the box the rest of the time in the car. As soon as we got home, he asked me to open the packaging. I opened it up and then went about unloading the car. Next thing I know, I see C watching TV like this.

Yesterday, we while we were out and about we made our first stop at the post office. I turned around to help S out of his car seat and had a surprise. His big brother had helped S wear his goggles.

I thought they were going to wear them inside, but C insisted they needed to take the goggles off so they didn't lose them. But yes, they wore the goggles in the car between every stop.
