For Christmas, MK received this beautiful book from Santa.

Inside the book, were two tickets to see the Nutcracker at Ballet West. 

R got to take her, and she LOVED it. 

After the ballet, they hosted a "Tea with the Sugar Plum Fairy Party." MK got to get a up close look at the sets, a peek behind-the-scene, a treat, and a picture with the Sugar Plum Fairy and others cast members.

Yesterday, MK came running up to me and said:

"S is tattle-telling on me."

Lots of Ironing

I've finally found time to work on my projects. I've how a mound of ironing waiting for me. I'm not a fan of pressing seams open. It always takes more time. However, it is necessary for this project.

But it is nice to see things come together. Once I finished with all the ironing and trimming, I couldn't resist laying out what I've got so far so admire my work. Of course, I waited until R was home so he could be wow'd. And he was. 

Blast from the Summer Past

I was looking through photos and found these great photos from our summer vacation to California. For the past few years, the kids and I leave R behind and head to CA for a week or more to visit sisters and cousins. Our last day in CA in 2012, we drove out to San Francisco to visit with Auntie J.

First, Auntie J took us to some great Mexican food. Even though it was mid-July, sweaters were required. This IS San Francisco.

The Advent Calendar

So, one project I've had in my WIPs is an advent calendar I wanted to complete before Christmas 2012. Well, I DID get it all together in time, but we didn't actually use it.

I like the overall LOOK of it, but I need to fix some things. 

First, the magnets I used on the tins aren't strong enough to hold the tins in place once the advent calendar is placed up. Can you see how all the tins have slipped and slid down. They are all resting on top of each other instead of staying firmly in place.

Secondy, two tins didn't survive any vigorous handling by the kids. With the slightest pressure, the plastic lid broke off and is now tucked tightly inside the tin and won't come out.

I put my fingers in the tins so you can see that the "top" is now resting snuggly at the bottom.

It's kinda hard to have something in a tin without a lid.

We weren't without an advent calendar. MK came home with a Santa's beard advent calendar. Each day we'd glue on a cotton ball onto Santa's beard. Once it was full, it was Christmas.

Moustache!

Yesterday, the kids had dentist appointments--No Cavities! Hurray!

We go see an awesome pediatric dental group who give the kids tokens at the end of each check-up they can use to buy small toys. Well, S used his coin to get a fake mustache.
