Dance Recital

MK had her big dance recital Thursday.

All the good pictures were taken by R with his spiffy camera. I was in charge of the video camera. I haven't figured out how to get the video onto my computer yet. 

But, this was how darling she looked in her dance outfit.

Her dance group did three dance numbers. My favorite was to "Jailhouse Rock." MK shook, rattled, and rolled. It was awesome! 

One of the dance numbers was "Heigh Ho" from Snow White. The dance teachers asked each student to make their own dwarf costume for that number. I asked my mom if she could help us out and she made the cutest costume for MK. My mom took MK shopping to pick out the fabric, and MK was very adamant on what she wanted. And it turned out great!

Dance Recital Preview

We got her all dressed up for her group and individual pictures. She LOVES this. She loves having "pretty hair." She loves putting on make-up. She loves dressing up. 

Next week is her big dance recital, and she is so excited. 

New Dance Outfit

MK loves her weekly dance class. Each year, the dance studio puts on a dance recital and each class gets special dance outfits to wear during their performance and at a dance competition. MK recently came home with her new dance outfit, which we had to try to to make sure it fit.

Ballet

 Saturday, MK and I had a Mommy-Daughter date. We went to SLC to see the Ballet. Ballet West put on a production of "Cinderella." It was amazing. The Wicked Stepsisters were hilarious, Cinderella was beautiful, the music was great, and the whole thing was so well done. MK and I had a great time.

During one of the intermissions, MK and I walked around the theater. She was captivated with the Orchestra Pit and all the musicians and instruments. I got this photo of her looking into the pit before an usher told me I wasn't allowed to take photos inside the theater. Oops.

While MK and I went to the ballet, R and the boys went to the Dinosaur Museum. They had a blast.  They've talked my ears off with all the things they saw and did. They learned so much and had a great time.

The Nutcracker

For Christmas, MK received this beautiful book from Santa.

Inside the book, were two tickets to see the Nutcracker at Ballet West. 

R got to take her, and she LOVED it. 

After the ballet, they hosted a "Tea with the Sugar Plum Fairy Party." MK got to get a up close look at the sets, a peek behind-the-scene, a treat, and a picture with the Sugar Plum Fairy and others cast members.

MK has been involved in dance classes for the past year. She LOVES to dance. She loves to watch shows about dance. She will dance anywhere anytime. Today, she wanted to wear all pink: her pink leotard, pink tu-tu, pink fairy wings, pink headband, pink flip-flops. (She did put on her black dance slippers on once she got to dance.)

She loves to watch Angelina Ballerina. A lot. Often. She has begun to change into this same outfit each time she turns on her Angelina Ballerina show. She then takes my sewing measuring tape and whips it around like it's her ribbon.
