Yes, I know I should put this photo AFTER my original post last night, but I like this picture SO much better that I want this one to be the one seen on my feed. Colors so much better! And, a handsome little boy who wanted to hold it for me and be in the picture.

I know this picture is just awful. It's now 11:02 pm and the lighting is horrible. I will add better pictures tomorrow when I can take better pictures with natural light.

It is so fun to see this quilt top all done. Woo-Hoo!

WIP Wednesday #39 -- Fractured Flower Top ALMOST Done

My Fractured Flower Quilt top is almost done. All the rows are sewed together and pressed. The flange is sewn to the edges. Next up--the border. And this top will be D-O-N-E. Done!

I have two more days to get it done for my monthly goal. I'm so excited to be so close to finishing this top.

Mystery Quilt Update

All my pieces are cut for the Mystery Quilt.

All this blue fabric is making me happy. I find myself very curious as to what this will turn out to be.

Sunday Sewing

This isn't what I wanted to sew today. But I love my son....

Scout Uniform

....even when he tells me 2 days before he leaves for scout camp that he needs certain badges sewn onto his uniform.

....even when he tells me he doesn't have those specific badges, and I have an hour to run to the scout office before they close.

And because I'm a quilter, not a tailor, I have no idea how to do this. I will admit to watching a YouTube video for tips. I ended up using monofilament (clear) thread to sew it all on by machine.

He so owes me.

Mystery Quilt

I'm not usually a fan of mystery quilts. I like to SEE the pattern I am making so I can make color choices as well as decide if I want to make it or not. However, I'm testing out a mystery pattern for my aunt.

At Quilt Fest this year, my aunt is in charge of the mystery quilt project. She wanted to have a tester for the pattern before the big event to catch any mistakes. Apparently, at last years event the mystery quilt was a complete disaster--the pattern was riddled with mistakes. There were incorrect instructions; the fabric requirement was inadequate; the wording was confusing; and the ladies running it weren't very helpful in explaining their pattern. Many quilters just threw the whole project away.

I finally picked up fabric for my project. At first, I was going to just use fabric from my stash. However, the pattern called for 1 yard of fabric for each color. I normally buy 1/2 yard cuts for my stash. I couldn't find anything over 1 yard that isn't already earmarked for a different project.

I made sure to keep track of the fabric name. (See Tip on Organizing Solid Fabrics.) No more trying to color match months from now if I need more fabric!

While I was having this fabric cut, a lady came in with a small swatch of solid green fabric she was trying to match. She couldn't find the correct color and wanted to know if they by chance had a bolt behind the cutting table that matched. Unfortunately, they didn't. If she had written down the make and color, she could have easily ordered it online or phoned ahead to see if they carried it. Poor quilter!

WIP Wednesday #38 -- Fractured Flower Progress

Summertime is a slow-sewing time for me. Life gets pretty hectic with the kids out of school and all the fun activities we plan. Even with all the soccer camps, swim lessons, scout camps, waterparks, play dates, etc. I still try to find some sew time because sew time is me time.

I've been working on my Fractured Flower quilt. I'm determined to finish the top this month as part of my July goals

I have the top mostly done. I just need to sew 3 more sections together and add the border.

So close to being done with the top!

I have such a love/hate relationship with this project that I just want it done. I'm sure I'll begin to love it again once it's completed. *fingers crossed*

Goals for July

I forgot how busy summer time is. With three very active kids, we always have something going on. But I love it. I love all the fun things I get to do with my kids and the time spent together.

Even still, I do need some me time. I plan on using some me time this month to finally finish my Fractured Flower Quilt top.

It is beyond time I am done with this quilt.

I have such a love/hate relationship with this quilt. I started this project three years ago at the Utah Quilt Fest when I took it as a class. I followed some bad advice from the instructor (who did not write the pattern, she just made a quilt from the pattern) and I have been kicking myself ever since. I KNEW better than to do what she said, but I went ahead and did it anyway and could just cry over the results. Now, I just want it to be done and out of my WIP pile.
